About Me
Text Box: My name is Frank Schulterbrandt. I use to have 92 tanks of Tanganyikan fish. The basic 3 groups of fish that I had were Neolamprologus, Altolamprologus, Lepidiolamprologus. I was fortunate enough to have the success of breeding all the fish I acquired (39+ variants, plus diff. colors), except the elusive Blue Sexfasciatus, I got them to pair up for about a year in a 260 gallon 8 foot vat that I made…. The pair would keep the other 4 Sexfasciatus confined in a two foot area. The pair owned 6 X 2 feet of the vat. So after a year of this I gave up. 05/01/2008

After 8 months of really doing nothing with fish , just maintaining the few remaining Tangs. I have recently gotten the Petrochromis bug. Most of my 92 tanks were sold, to make room for the new larger sized tanks. 02/01/2009

Presently I have one 240 gallon 8 x 2 foot tank, two 150 gallon tanks 6 footers, Four 125 gallon tanks also 6 footers, 135 gallon tank 6 footer, 100 gallon tank 5 footer . I have some tanks left over from the 92 tanks, six 55 gallon tanks , six 40 breeders and nine 20 longs. My goal is to breed as many variants of petrochromis as time and money permits.

Although I had great success with breeding Neolamprologus, Altolamprologus, Lepidiolamprologus , I am a novice when it comes to housing petrochromis. This web page is the account of things that have occurred in my tanks and how I handled the situation. The same petros when introduced into your tanks may act differently for various reasons. So the bottom line is if it works for you that is all that matters. Never stop listening and you will never stop learning.

At this time I would like to give special thanks to Sarah Roberts and Tom Leontis for supplying me with a lot of my initial information about housing the specie called
                                                                PETROCHROMIS.
